Read the Appeals article.
Posted my Appeals titles.
Sent one recommendation to a friend. I had trouble with this. My first post disappeared into the netherworld. I tried again and it seems to have been successful.
Some direction on what to choose from the pulldown menu would have been helpful. I chose the Google post link but it didn't work the first time. The second attempt took the post but I had to enter security words to "prove I wasn't a robot."
Marlene, I think you would enjoy Caleb's Crossing by Geraldine Brooks.
ReplyDeleteIt follows the education of a young Native American in colonial New England based on a true story. The conflicts between the strict Puritan Code followed by his English friend, Bethea and the deeply spiritual animistic religion of the Indians are fascinating.
Another title you might like is the Hare with Amber Eyes, by Edmund De Waal. This non-fiction title follows the travels of a collection of netsuke from their origin in Japan, To Wartime Berlin under the Nazis and back to Japan again following the fortunes and misfortunes of the Jewish families of Ephrussi and de Waals. I found it to be fascinating both for the history of the period and for the information about the netsuke carvings.
